The Warrior Way

Strong. Driven. Faithful.

Westmont Athletics is where discipline meets purpose. Here, student-athletes pursue excellence in competition, in the classroom, and in their faith, developing the character and leadership that lasts far beyond the game.

Warriors in Action

From early morning practices to late-night study sessions, Westmont student-athletes bring passion, grit, and purpose to everything they do. Hear directly from them as they reflect on team accomplishments, personal growth, and what it means to compete with heart on and off the field.

In 2024, 85% of Westmont athletes indicated they grew spiritually through their athletic experience at Westmont.

Westmont Baseball earned its highest NCAA Division II national ranking in program history.

“Quite honestly, I came into Westmont pretty lost in my faith and unsure of where I stood in my relationship with God. Through the team, I was given a safe space to wrestle with various things and work through my questions in community with others.”

Alumni Stories

Kate | Swimming For me, the most important part of being a student-athlete at Westmont is representing Christ through being a selfless teammate and a humble, hard-working athlete.

Brady | Baseball Being a student-athlete at Westmont is a great privilege...to represent the school both on the field and in the classroom.

Jessie | Volleyball The one thing that has remained consistent (as a student-athlete at Westmont) is the incredible support from not only my teammates and coaches but all staff, professors, students, and other teams on campus who have taken the time to encourage and inspire our growth.

Kirsten Moore

“Endeavoring to excel as a student-athlete at Westmont will stretch you outside your comfort zone as you challenge your body, mind and soul to maximize your talents both in and out of the athletic arena. You develop the skills, habits and character that will stay with you long after your athletic career has ended.”

–Kirsten Moore, Women’s Basketball Head Coach

Russell Smelley

“Athletics can be an integral part of a liberal arts education as it adds breadth and depth to a student’s life. Athletics is about relationships which develop through a shared commitment to strive for excellence in sports competition. A coach is the most successful when they help to transform a student’s perspective about their self-worth through the physical, emotional, social and spiritual development involved in the athletic training process.”

–Russell Smelley, Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach
