Research Interests include: the special composition question, counterfactual semantics, free will, divine conservation, and the afterlife.
Dr. Vander Laan graduated from Calvin University with degrees in mathematics and philosophy and received his doctorate in philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. He was awarded the 2022 Alvin Plantinga Prize for his paper “Satisfaction in the End without End.” His other publications include: “A Relevance Constraint on Composition,” “Persistence and Divine Conservation,” “Counterpossibles and Similarity,” and "The Ontology of Impossible Worlds." He currently serves on the Faith and Philosophy Board of Editorial Consultants.
