The Student Life Division's mission statement was crafted to support Westmont's mission statement. As you read both below, the connection between the two is very intentional.

College Mission Statement

Westmont College is an undergraduate, residential, Christian, liberal arts community serving God's kingdom by cultivating thoughtful scholars, grateful servants and faithful leaders for global engagement with the academy, church and world.

Student Life Mission Statement

In partnership with faculty and staff, the Student Life Division fosters students' whole person development as thoughtful scholars, grateful servants, and faithful leaders equipped to engage our global society. We cultivate a healthy diverse community by facilitating educational experiences and providing excellent services so all students flourish as God's image-bearers.

Student Life targets our resources and assessment efforts toward five priorities for our students that emerge from the mission statements above:

1. Spiritual Formation
2. Faithful Leadership
3. Justice, Reconciliation and Diversity
4. Flourishing
5. Health Community

The division undertakes regular assessment practices as a means to understand the impact of our efforts to engage and shape our students, while providing excellent services. One assessment practice is the schedule of external reviews where a respected colleague from another campus joins a team of Westmont faculty and staff over two days to provide feedback on one department. Student Life departments also submit assessment data as part of their annual reports to the Vice President. Finally, the division submits both annual and 6-Year assessment reports to the Program Review Committee of the college. The external reviews, annual assessment reports, and 6-Year reports are available from the Vice President and the Dean of Curriculum and Educational Effectiveness.
